Employment opportunities with photovoltaic energies in the next 10 years

According to the Renewable Energy and Jobs: Annual Review 2021 report, recently published by the International Renewable Energy Agency, jobs in renewable energy, specifically wind and photovoltaic, have increased to 13.5 million in 2021, compared to 12 million in 2020 worldwide. In addition, both international organizations estimate that the sector will employ 43 million people worldwide by 2030 and 122 million by 2050.

Solar PV and wind related jobs have led global employment growth in the renewable energy sector in 2021, totaling 4 million and 1.25 million jobs, respectively.

IRENA and the ILO are not the only entities that see the renewables sector as an opportunity to create jobs. The 2021 Global Remuneration Study, prepared by the consulting firm Robert Walters in the fourth quarter of 2021, considers that this sector, together with the chemical and logistics sector, are the leading generators of employment at present.

The same trend is shown by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, where solar photovoltaic installer and wind turbine technician are the fastest growing jobs in the US.

Solar energy alone has created more than 250,000 jobs in the US, where 25% of solar energy jobs are held by minorities.

As the cost of renewable energy technology decreases and demand increases, the increase in labor supply will be exponential.
